The Baton Rouge General offers a competitive pay package that includes market-driven base wages and a full array of flexible pay components customized to fit the needs of the individual nurse.

The Nursing Compensation includes:

  • Certification Pay - The General pays an additional $1.00/hr to nurses who hold national certification in their area of practice. We reimburse exam expenses and renewals for certifications. These certifications are available to all patient care units. Specialty courses and assistance in certification preparation are offered in addition to reimbursement for exam expenses.

  • Pay Differentials – In addition to shift and weekend differentials, nurses at The General receive special pay and training for assignments such as charge and preceptor.

  • Weekend Program – A special higher weekend differential is paid to nurses who prefer to work primarily on weekends. Weekend Program nurses may work full-time or part-time hours from 7pm Friday through 7am Monday with full benefits, certification pay, and all differentials. The General’s Weekend Program nurses have the flexibility to take off one weekend in a two-month period.

  • PRN/Relief and Seasonal Contracts – The General maintains an in-house team of nurses who receive premium wages in return for assignment and schedule flexibility as members of our Nursing Resource Pool. Nurses must have 2 years of clinical experience to qualify for these assignments. Seasonal assignments include bonus payments and shift incentives.

  • Call Pay – The General offers several levels of market competitive call pay and compensates call-back at time-and a half.

  • Benefits Waiver – In situations where an individual nurse does not wish to participate in the benefits package, he or she may elect to receive higher wages in lieu of benefits.
