ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support:
2 Day Full Course
An American Heart Association course offered by Baton Rouge General Community Training Center is
totally redesigned to incorporate new science evidence from the 2005 Guidelines
and a new methodology. Through the ACLS course, healthcare providers will
enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest
or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic
life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life
support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the
importance of effective team interaction and communication during
resuscitation.
This awards you 10.0 contact hours of nursing continuing education credit.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support, has been approved by Louisiana State Nurses Association
for 15.8 contact hours in 2006 and for 10.0 contact hours offered in 2007.
All courses will be from 8:00 am
until 4:00 pm and will be held in the Education Department at our Mid City location which is
wheelchair accessible.
1 Day Recertification Course
An American Heart Association course offered by BRGMC, not for contact hours that serves
to review and refresh skills previously learned in the full 2 day course.

PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support -
2 Day Full Course
An American Heart Association course offered by Baton Rouge General
Community Training Center is based on new science evidence from the 2005
AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal for the
PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the
knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically
ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include
recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary
arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment, effective respiratory
management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access
and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
This activity awards you 10.0 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education.

ECG Course
A 2 day course developed and offered by BRGMC for Contact Hours that focuses on the
electrophysiology of the heart and its relation to hemodynamic function, the normal ECG,
and common dysrhythmias. The learner will be able to recognize and interpret a wide variety
of ECG strips and relate the rhythm to the patients hemodynamic status.
This activity awards you 12.8 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education.
Basic ECG Course, has been approved by Louisiana State Nurses Association for 17.1 contact
hours in 2006 and for 12.8 contact hours offered in 2007.
All courses
will be from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Course location will be given to you when you register
for the course, site is wheelchair accessible.
