Nurses at Baton Rouge General Cardiovascular Recovery Area (CVRA), a part of our Womack Heart Center, are known for providing personalized care to each and every patient. Out nurses make a point of get to know the patients and their family members. Many of our patients refer to the staff by name in their satisfaction surveys.
“Patient care is top priority; our staff goes the extra mile by calling each patient after discharge to check on them and make sure they aren’t having any complications,” states the nurse manager.
This tight knit unit provides services to both inpatient and outpatient heart catheterization patients Monday - Friday. Our Mid City location has four beds located within the SICU department. The Bluebonnet location has 12 beds adjacent to the heart cath labs.
The department admits, recovers and discharges patients undergoing left and right heart catheterization, post cardiac intervention such as Stent, PTCA, Rotoblator, Angiojet, as well as pacemaker and ICD insertion. The unit staff also assists in scheduled in room procedures such as cardioversions, tilt table studies, and Transesophageal Echos.
The Bluebonnet location is now able to provide overnight care for interventional patients that must be observed throughout the night from Monday - Thursday.
