Telemetry

Baton Rouge General’s Telemetry Nurses are known for their friendliness, compassion, and exceptional patient care.

The telemetry nurse manger has this to say about her unit:

“We are known as 'The Heart' of the General. Our main goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.”

Telemetry, which is part of the Milton J. Sr. Heart Center, is located at Baton Rouge General’s Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses. The Mid City Unit is comprised of 28 beds and the Bluebonnet Unit has 30 beds. Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:5.

Critical Care nursing has expanded beyond the walls of the traditional critical care Units and our Telemetry nurses are well trained to meet this growing trend. Education is the key. We provide a telemetry course for all new nurses and Advance Critical Life Support (ACLS) training is a requirement for all our telemetry nurses. If a continued learning experience is what you are looking for, then a telemetry career offers continued educational opportunities.

We strongly encourage our nurses to obtain their Progressive Care Certified Nurse Certification, with our nurse educator assisting in preparation for the PCCN exam. PCCN certification promotes continuing excellence in the progressive care nursing profession.

Our Telemetry units welcome new nurses, and our preceptor program excels in training and mentoring new staff. Telemetry can prepare a new graduate in almost any field of nursing expertise. We would be honored to have you as part of our family.
